Can Brians 2 Penitentiary

Construction of the "Can Brians-2 Penitentiary" in Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Barcelona) conceived under the CP-1000 model prior to the development of the new Prison Plan by the Government, is a hybrid between the SIEP model and the Catalan model. Its operational start, in June 2007, was considered vital as the prison system at that time was in danger of collapse. It was also the first infrastructure created in Catalonia as Surface Rights, and was therefore tendered excluding maintenance services.

The centre has a constructed surface area of 105,000m² divided between 25 buildings, 40ha of urban area and with a capacity for 1,500 inmates.
